Job Title: Construction Specialist

Heliogen is a pioneering renewable energy technology company dedicated to decarbonizing industries and promoting a sustainable future. Our innovative solutions, powered by AI, computer vision, and robotics, harness the power of sunlight to generate heat, steam, power, or green hydrogen fuel, enabling industries such as mining, cement, steel, and transportation to transition to clean energy.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Specialist to join our dynamic team at our renewable energy site in Plains, TX. This is an hourly, full-time position with a 6-month commitment to a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and supervise all construction activities, including manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, and work schedules.
  • Direct all assigned construction, multi-discipline activities to ensure compliance with Heliogen's Safety Policies and Procedures, as well as applicable environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Construction Manager to oversee project construction and ensure timely completion.
  • Foster strong relationships and a team-oriented work ethic with subcontract teams to promote safe working practices.
  • Coordinate work with other supervisors, contractors, and subcontractors daily to minimize work interferences and delays.
  • Supervise and coordinate facility construction from ground up, guiding contractors on daily work activities.
  • Coordinate between multiple GCs onsite to achieve established objectives and minimize interruptions to the construction schedule.
  • Review LOTO packages for correctness and verify the accuracy of process piping, electrical, and mechanical LOTO procedures.
  • Identify, apply, and verify construction to Heliogen's design criteria and specifications in all disciplines.
  • Review delivery packing lists to verify deliveries that arrive.
  • Assist the Construction Manager in tracking Project Execution Plans.
  • Participate in P&ID and other instrument and control drawing reviews.
  • Participate in process hazard analysis and constructability reviews.
  • Complete all required documentation within the work packet and participate in project close-outs.
  • Train and/or audit contract personnel on policies and procedures.
  • Hold contractors accountable and be willing to stop any unsafe acts.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in the multi-disciplinary construction industry, with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office suite.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction scheduling and the ability to manage multiple trades.
  • Able to work independently without supervision.
  • Advanced proficiency in reading P&IDs, isometrics, electrical line lists, and civil drawings.
  • Proficient in Navisworks Freedom Viewer and TrueView.
  • Familiar with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910 requirements.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
