We are seeking a Ukrainian Employment Advisor. This role is crucial in providing essential support and guidance to Ukrainian Humanitarian Parolees as they embark on their journey to find initial employment.

The advisor will assist clients through employment counseling, which encompasses resume writing, application processes, and interview preparation, while leveraging employer connections to facilitate job placements.

Additionally, the Employment Advisor will play a key role in maintaining and expanding our employer network.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalized employment counseling to clients, which may include one-on-one meetings, sharing job prospects, following up on leads, and coordinating interview schedules.
  • Offer direct assistance with resumes, applications, interview processes, job offer documentation, and ongoing mediation with employers.
  • Collaborate with clients to create tailored employment plans that assess family circumstances, employable skills, existing barriers to employment, and actionable steps for progress.
  • Provide guidance on topics such as job opportunities for low-English speakers, salary expectations, and commuting considerations.
  • Educate clients on American workplace culture, laws, and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation and reporting requirements as per state and federal grant standards.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with new employers to enhance interest in hiring program participants while maintaining existing employer partnerships.
  • Keep accurate case files and notes for program participants.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Family Services Department to creatively address barriers to self-sufficiency.
  • Participate in departmental and organization-wide meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Highly self-motivated with strong follow-through and the ability to work independently.
  • Adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relational skills for client interactions and employer connections.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of maintaining accurate records of client interactions; able to independently manage projects and assignments.

  • Strong mediation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Cross-cultural experience and/or knowledge of the refugee/immigrant experience.
  • Willingness to advocate on behalf of clients with employers.
  • Understanding of the U.S. employment market, particularly in urban areas, or a strong interest in learning.
  • Valid Driver's License preferred.
