Department Overview

The Gas Operations team is dedicated to maintaining the safe and dependable delivery of natural gas to our clients. This department oversees all facets of gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance, construction, restoration, and emergency response.

Position Summary

This role is represented by IBEW Local 1245, an organization with over a century of experience advocating for employees within the company.

The individual in this position will work independently, without direct supervision, to carry out compliance-related tasks, including:

  • Managing larger scale and complex locate and mark projects.
  • Providing oversight at third-party excavation sites with issues.
  • Standing by at Transmission and Critical Distribution facilities.
  • Piloting and operating new locate and mark tools and equipment.

Note: This position is classified under DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing.

Compensation Information

The company is providing an estimated hourly rate range that reflects what it believes it might pay for this position at the time of posting. This range is specific to the job's locality. The actual hourly rate will depend on various factors, including specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. While it is anticipated that the successful candidate will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.

Starting Hourly Rate Range: $49.02 to $55.96, subject to collectively bargained wage increases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Initiate Gas Corrective forms for any abnormal operating conditions identified in the field.
  • Complete necessary documentation to amend or update Gas Mapping when discrepancies are discovered.
  • Execute larger scale and complex Locate and Mark projects, define work areas, and contact USA for immediate grade one response work.
  • Oversee third-party excavation sites that present challenges.
  • Engage in DOT-Operations/Maintenance and Emergency tasks.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience is required.
  • A valid California Class C Driver's License is required from Day 1.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Capability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to wear company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Reside within 30 miles of the headquarters.
  • Experience in Gas and Electric locate and mark.
  • Previous construction or utility experience.
  • Current or former PowerPathway student.
