Job Title: GVSP Project Director

The University of Virginia's Office of the Provost seeks a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Project Director for the Gun Violence Solutions Project (GVSP). This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to a critical initiative aimed at reducing gun violence in the local community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the GVSP team, ensuring alignment with the project's goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement effective project management strategies to ensure timely and successful completion of project activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including university leaders, community partners, and external organizations.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to develop and implement research and teaching initiatives related to gun violence prevention.
  • Manage the project budget, track expenses, and ensure timely reporting to stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a shared document infrastructure for the project, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration among team members.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as public policy, public health, or social work.
  • At least four years of experience in project management, preferably in an academic or policy environment.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including OneDrive and Teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Expertise or background related to gun violence prevention and research.
  • Experience with strategic planning and implementation, including budget management and resource allocation.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to develop and disseminate research findings and policy recommendations.

This is a three-year position located in Charlottesville, VA, with the ability to work a hybrid schedule. The anticipated start date is Summer 2024.
