Assistant Director of Programs

The Contemplative Sciences Center at the University of Virginia seeks a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as an Assistant or Associate Director of Programs. This key leadership role will provide strategic direction, supervision, and guidance to ensure the effective implementation of programs and activities that meet the needs of the university community.
Key Responsibilities- Program Development and Implementation: Lead the development, design, curation, and implementation of mission-aligned activities, programs, and events led by the Contemplative Sciences Center (CSC). Spearhead strategic initiatives aligned with CSC and UVA objectives to enhance student life and engagement and animate the Contemplative Commons.
- Program Management: Oversee a team of undergraduate and graduate student workers charged with daily operations and programmatic responsibilities at the Contemplative Commons. Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure the smooth functioning of the facility and successful implementation of programs.
- Marketing and Communications: Represent the Program Team in collaboration with the Communications Team to develop marketing and communication standards, strategies, and practices to elevate the Commons as a differential space on Grounds.
- Administration: Manage the budget and expenditures management for activities, programs, and events while ensuring financial transparency and accountability.
- Education: Master's degree.
- Experience: At least three years of experience. Additional experience can substitute for this Masters requirement.
- Experience: 3-5 years of work experience in a higher education environment specializing in student wellbeing or wellness programming.
- Desired Experience: 2 years of contemplative practice or training (e.g., yoga teacher training, mindfulness certification, established personal practice).
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require attendance for meetings, programs, and events after hours.
This position is In-Person located in Charlottesville, VA.
This position is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance.
Assistant Director Anticipated Hiring Range: $65,000 - $75,000 commensurate with education and experience.
Associate Director Anticipated Hiring Range: $80,000 - $85,000 commensurate with education and experience.
This is an Exempt level, benefited position.
