About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Emergency Management Analyst to join our team at the Ohio Department of Public Safety. As a key member of our Emergency Management Agency, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of Ohioans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate and implement policies and procedures for establishing and maintaining situational awareness on specific hazards, current events, or disasters.
  • Coordinate notification and response with local, state, and federal emergency management and homeland security officials.
  • Collect, research, and analyze disaster information from various resources to determine potential hazard levels.
  • Develop, monitor, and analyze informational databases, spreadsheets, and reports to assess the magnitude and scope of impact of an emergency or disaster.
  • Prepare and deliver situational awareness reports, incident reports, and advisories for the State of Ohio.
Requirements
  • 36 months of experience conducting research and writing reports using operational, mathematical, analytical, and/or statistical research techniques.
  • Or completion of an undergraduate core program in homeland security, political science, criminal justice, emergency management, public health, international affairs, or a related field, with 12 months of experience conducting research and writing reports.

  • Word processing, Microsoft Office, GIS software packages, equipment operations, personal computer, telephone, general office equipment.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; deal with many variables and determine specific action; use statistical analysis; maintain accurate records; prepare meaningful, concise, and accurate reports.
