Job Description for a Middle School Social Studies Teacher

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Middle School Social Studies Teacher to join our team at Imagine Schools. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a strong commitment to academic excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver instruction using the most efficient and effective methodology to promote student learning and academic growth.
  • Implement the approved curriculum, adapting it to meet the needs of special-needs students through various instructional techniques and technologies.
  • Confer with parents, administrators, and other professionals to develop individualized educational plans that support each student's educational, physical, and social development.
  • Meet with parents and guardians to discuss student progress and determine their priorities and resource needs.
  • Support students' emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and a positive self-image.
  • Establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
  • Utilize preventive discipline methodologies with students and consult with other staff members as needed.
  • Complete written reports and assigned administrative tasks related to these functions.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Imagine Schools Six Measures of Excellence in the execution of duties.
  • Model positive character virtues and habits and assist students in developing positive morale and performance character attributes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
  • State certification and endorsement in the assigned area.
  • 1-2 years of successful teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to perform independently.
  • Ability to remain pleasant and helpful under stressful circumstances.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask when necessary.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations and statutes and theory and practice of student learning styles.
  • Ability to communicate cooperatively and constructively with other staff, students, and parents in a multicultural environment.
