Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team at Lactalis Heritage Dairy. As a key member of our local plant management team, you will drive business strategy and achieve breakthrough results through effective HR practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Strategy
    • Partner with the local plant management team to drive business strategy and achieve breakthrough results.
    • Serve as a consultant to management on HR-related issues and proactively assess and anticipate people-related needs.
  • Recruitment and Talent Management
    • Oversee and participate in the recruitment, selection, and retention of all plant employees.
    • Partner with Plant Leadership to maintain staffing levels according to business needs and the annual operating budget.
  • Employee Engagement and Development
    • Oversee the plant orientation/onboarding program for newly hired employees in partnership with the plant management team.
    • Partner with management to improve organizational effectiveness by optimizing resource utilization, employee morale, and engagement.
  • HR Operations and Compliance
    • Oversee site payroll administration and LOA process.
    • Partner with USA Shared Services to ensure accurate payroll processing.
    • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements.
  • Union Relations and Employee Relations
    • Support activities related to negotiating, maintaining, and ensuring adherence to the collective bargaining agreement.
    • Participate in union negotiations, grievance hearings, arbitrations, and serve as a point-of-contact for union representatives.
    • Conduct investigations into employee complaints and provide direction to plant management team by providing coaching and interpretation to complex employee relations issues.
  • Team Management and Development
    • Manage and enhance a productive work environment by resolving conflicts between management and associates.
    • Coach management on effective management and coaching techniques and maintain open communication with employees and managers.
  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Administration, Business, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
    • 7+ years HR generalist experience required.
    • 3+ years HR experience in a manufacturing environment is required, food industry preferred.
    • 3+ years experience leading direct reporting team members is required.
    • Experience working with labor unions is required.
    Requirements
    • Strong understanding of HR practices in recruitment, organization development, policy administration, training, and employee relations.
    • Hands-on, self-starter, capable of juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
    • Strong business acumen.
    • Demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all functions and levels of the organization.
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with company values.
    • Knowledge of Federal and State employment laws, investigation skills, HR technical knowledge in EEO, FMLA, ADA, unemployment, and worker's compensation.
    • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
    • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong influence and facilitation skills.
    • Experience managing organizational change.
    • Proven ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
    • Flexibility to support 24/7 operation.
