Role Responsibilities
The Process Engineer is primarily tasked with diagnosing and resolving process control issues while maintaining comprehensive documentation for all processing equipment. This role serves as a technical resource for all manufacturing equipment and provides supervisory support as necessary.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues related to manufacturing processes.
- Conduct performance tests and monitor process efficiency throughout production.
- Assist in retrofitting and upgrading equipment.
- Oversee product modifications and support start-up procedures.
- Assess process improvements for the production floor and train production staff accordingly.
- Develop and uphold a technical training program, troubleshooting guidelines, and process control documentation.
- Facilitate training for new hires and current employees, ensuring proper documentation of training activities.
- Play a key role in fostering a culture of Continuous Improvement by directly supporting structured problem-solving initiatives such as Kaizens and A3's.
- Provide direct engineering support to the site, including documenting process enhancements, operator training, process capability studies, and safety improvement projects.
- Evaluate technical and economic feasibility at each stage of the development process.
- Prepare capital estimates for potential new products or process initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with established OSHA, EPA, and safety regulations in all work.
- Work environment: This position will involve approximately 80% of time spent on the production floor of a manufacturing facility, subject to moderate noise levels, temperature variations, and other typical manufacturing conditions.
- B.S. degree in Engineering is preferred.
- Proficient understanding of statistical process control, experimental design, and quality systems.
- Experience in continuous improvement processes and principles, with a strong background in leading focused improvement teams.
- Supervisory experience is essential, including directing work, coaching, and managing performance and development.
- Ability to coach and train individuals at all organizational levels.
- Experience in a team-oriented environment, with a proven ability to motivate and lead both current and new employees.
