Position: Systems Engineer

Location: Boulder, CO

Are you driven by the mission of enhancing solar energy and influencing the future of sustainable power solutions? Our client, a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, is on the lookout for a skilled Systems Engineer to become part of their innovative team. In this capacity, you will be instrumental in the design and optimization of extensive photovoltaic (PV) initiatives, contributing to pioneering solutions that promote solar energy utilization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Design Leadership: Spearhead the preliminary system design, concentrating on electrical systems and generation modeling for PV projects.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with diverse teams, including Business Development, Engineering, and Operations, to address technical requirements and respond to RFPs.
  • Ongoing System Enhancement: Engage in continuous system improvements as pricing, feasibility, and interconnection designs progress.
  • Data Analysis: Evaluate large datasets, refine generation models, and provide technical support for performance assurances.
  • Innovative Solutions: Propose creative cost-saving strategies and stay informed about industry design tools and methodologies.
  • Process Automation: Create internal tools to enhance design workflows.
  • Quality Compliance: Ensure adherence to electrical and instrumentation installation standards.
  • Proactive Approach: Exhibit foresight and flexibility to independently advance project objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Strong grasp of solar and electrical engineering principles.
  • Expertise in solar modeling software (e.g., PVSYST, SAM, PVCase, SolarGIS).
  • Experience in data analysis and intricate problem-solving.
  • Accredited degree in electrical engineering with over 5 years of experience in PV plant engineering.
  • Proficient in computer applications (Matlab, Python, MS Office).
  • Exceptional communication abilities (both verbal and written).
  • Dedication to safety, ethics, and quality standards.
  • Capability to manage multi-disciplinary tasks and collaborate effectively in a team setting.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for project-related duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with utility-scale interconnection processes or grid network modeling.
  • Master's degree in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and National Electrical Safety Code.
  • Understanding of NERC requirements and design implementation.
