About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Commercial Origination Manager to join our team at Clearway Energy, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting and implementing the sales and marketing strategy of our utility-scale development pipeline to corporate clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Origination and Structuring: Identify new origination prospects and propose outreach strategies for all products and technologies under development, including key corporate customer messaging.
  • Negotiation and Execution: Lead the negotiation of long-term structured transactions with commercial and industrial (C&I) off-take to support commercialization and financing of our development pipeline.
  • Pricing and Risk Management: Direct pricing sensitivities based on customer goals and priorities in alignment with Clearway's underwriting guidelines and internal risk policies.
  • Relationship Building: Actively manage and build relationships with corporate clients across all regions and market segments.
  • Market Research and Analysis: Conduct research on new markets, customer demand drivers, and off-take products to support business development and growth.
  • Due Diligence and Acquisition Support: Assist with due diligence on acquisition targets and greenfield opportunities to support the growth of our development pipeline.
  • RFP and Bid Preparation: Evaluate requests for proposals and lead the bid preparation process, including collaborating with cross-functional groups on pricing strategy, project development status, and proposal generation.
  • Market Price Trends and Competitiveness: Track market price trends and provide guidance on competitiveness for RFPs.
  • Customer Research and Development: Conduct research into prospective customers' energy procurement activities, sustainability goals, and corporate structure to develop ideas for Clearway offerings.
  • Industry Trends and Policy Analysis: Provide input to routine power market analysis of the policies that will impact market structure, and either increase/decrease supply base, or alter load/demand.
  • Industry Engagement and Participation: Participate in energy working groups, professional organizations, trade shows, and conferences specific to corporate engagements.
  • Regulatory and Policy Monitoring: Track and report on policy and regulatory developments that will impact market strategy and customer opportunities, leveraging Clearway's internal and external subject matter experts.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Maintain customer records and provide high-quality deliverables accurately and on time.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in renewables, with emphasis on corporate engagement.
  • Industry Network: Established a network of industry contacts with corporate entities and trade associations.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Power Sale Agreements: Experience with structuring, negotiating, and executing power sale agreements for C&I off-take.
  • Communication and Analytical Skills: Superior verbal and written communication skills with a high level of attention to detail, and strong aptitude for analytical and financial modeling.
  • Energy Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the energy industry, including regulated and de-regulated electricity markets and project financing structures and key value drivers.
  • Organizational Skills: Effective organizational skills, including the ability to independently prioritize and manage competing priorities, track the progress and needs of each, and provide high-quality deliverables accurately and on time.
  • Renewable Energy Advocacy: Strong desire to advance the adoption and deployment of renewable energy solutions across North America.
  • Teamwork and Adaptability: Able to work well with geographically dispersed, cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Origination or Development Experience: 5 years of experience in an origination or development role.
