Job Title: Advanced Practice Provider

UAB Medicine is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Cardiovascular Surgery Unit team.

Job Summary:

The APP will be responsible for providing medical care and treatment to surgical patients in an inpatient setting, including new consults and overnight admissions. The ideal candidate will have the clinical knowledge necessary to perform history and physical exams, diagnose patients with cardiac issues, and develop comprehensive patient care plans.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide medical care and treatment to surgical patients in an inpatient setting
  • Perform history and physical exams, diagnose patients with cardiac issues, and develop comprehensive patient care plans
  • Coordinate plan of care, discharge, and specialty referrals as appropriate
  • Plan and coordinate health care education for patients, families, and other healthcare providers
  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments
  • Interpret, analyze, and evaluate patient medical records and social data
  • Perform and/or assist physicians with procedures per collaborative agreement
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Nursing with an Acute Care NP certification or graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Acute Care Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing or licensed as a Physician Assistant by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners with certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment
