Role Summary

The Assistant Manager of Housekeeping at Vail Resorts plays a crucial role in ensuring that our team of housekeeping professionals delivers impeccable cleaning services across multiple properties. This position involves overseeing the cleanliness of guest accommodations and common areas, while also managing quality assurance initiatives to enhance guest experiences.

The Assistant Manager will be responsible for daily housekeeping operations, aligning activities with budgetary objectives, and strategically sourcing supplies. This role also includes leading recruitment and training efforts for housekeeping staff, including full-time, contract, and seasonal employees. Collaborating closely with departmental leadership, this individual will be an integral part of the hotel management team.

We seek a candidate who consistently achieves outstanding results and demonstrates a proactive approach to solving complex business challenges. A positive attitude and the ability to influence team dynamics are essential for success in this role.

Job Specifications:

  • Availability: Full-Time / Year-Round

  • Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and guide the housekeeping team to ensure exceptional cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor among the housekeeping staff, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Adjust staffing levels based on occupancy and operational needs.
  • Oversee payroll processes for the housekeeping department.
  • Lead the hiring and initial training of new staff members.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and manage disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Director on departmental financial management, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Delegate tasks effectively to maximize productivity and guest satisfaction.
  • Implement regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas to uphold cleanliness standards.
  • Engage with guests to address concerns and implement corrective measures.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and chemical handling regulations.
  • Communicate clearly with various stakeholders to provide direction and support.
  • Conduct property walkthroughs to assess the condition of facilities and recommend improvements.
  • Build strong relationships with other departments and participate in cross-training initiatives.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Preferred college degree in hospitality or business.
  • Prior experience managing a hotel or resort housekeeping department.
  • Minimum of two years in a supervisory or management role within housekeeping.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to lift 25-50 pounds.

Preferred:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience in luxury hotel environments.
  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams and a passion for guest service.
  • Effective time management and delegation skills.
  • Commitment to recognizing team achievements and fostering a culture of safety.

The expected salary range for this position is $55,000 - $60,000, based on various factors.
