About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Director of the UVA Lab School Innovation Hub. This is a key leadership position that will play a pivotal role in shaping the lab school's culture and practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction and guidance to the lab school, identifying and addressing current needs, and developing strategies for implementation.
  • Team Management: Manage a team of employees, including a Lab Manager, Research Scientist, and Innovation Specialists, providing guidance and support in their roles, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Program Development: Oversee the Innovation Academy Fellowship program, a year-long, cohort-based professional development program, and establish and manage partnerships to develop, implement, and sustain the lab school.
  • Community Engagement: Work closely with community partners and the UVA Equity Center's Community Partnerships Program Manager to establish and strengthen community connections for students and teachers.
  • Partnership Development: Establish and manage partnerships to support the development, implementation, and sustainability of the lab school.
  • Financial Management: Oversee the UVA Innovation Hub's budget, ensuring effective use of resources, and working with the governing board to make strategic financial decisions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate stakeholder engagement, including feedback from students, parents, and community members.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree
  • Experience: Eight years of increasingly responsible experience, with a Master's degree typically preferred, or relevant exempt-level experience may substitute for a degree.
Preferred Requirements
  • Experience: Experience integrating computer science in K-8 school settings, excellent oral and written communication skills, and previous experience bringing collaborative efforts to fruition.
  • Skills: Experience with program design and creation, management, and event coordination, and providing professional learning experiences around computer science integration with K-8 teachers.
  • Personal Qualities: Willingness and eagerness to learn and grow individually and as part of the lab school team, demonstrated maturity, wise decision-making, and professionalism.
Physical Demands

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers, with occasional travel required to attend meetings and programs.
