The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a Lab Manager for the Innovation Hub within the School of Education and Human Development. This role is pivotal in fostering a collaborative educational environment that emphasizes project-based and interdisciplinary learning for students.
The Innovation Hub aims to engage students in meaningful and computationally rich experiences, promoting a culture of curiosity and innovation. The Lab Manager will work closely with faculty, administrators, and teachers to facilitate a curriculum that aligns with educational standards while integrating technology and hands-on learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with educators to design and update a curriculum that incorporates innovative, student-centered projects.
- Coordinate with school administrators to ensure equitable access to the Innovation Hub for all students.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, ensuring all equipment and materials are functional and compliant with regulations.
- Lead project-based learning experiences that encourage critical thinking and creativity among students.
- Oversee assessments and provide constructive feedback to enhance student learning outcomes.
- Conduct professional development sessions for teachers, introducing new methodologies and tools for effective instruction.
- Organize events to showcase student projects and promote community engagement.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree.
- A minimum of four years of relevant management experience, including two years in a supervisory role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five years of experience in educational leadership.
- Possession of a Virginia teaching license with a middle school science endorsement.
- Background in computer science or experience integrating technology in K-8 education.
- Expertise in designing project-based learning initiatives.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to professional growth.
