Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychologist I to join our team at the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). As a Psychologist I, you will be responsible for providing psychological evaluations, individual, group, and family therapies to patients who require and can benefit from these services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide input into the psychological factors and recovery needs of patients to recovery teams as assigned.
  • Provide staff training in the development of psychoeducational groups and classes on the recovery unit.
  • Serve on committees throughout the facility as needed.
  • Provide backup for the supervising Psychologist as needed.
  • Supervise the work of others as assigned.
Requirements
  • Must be licensed as a psychologist by the State of Texas or a reciprocity state.
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in psychology.
  • Successful completion of a pre-doctoral internship in clinical or counseling psychology.
  • Experience in psychological work.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Documented training and supervised experience in group, individual, and behavioral therapies, psychological assessment, and psychological testing.
  • Knowledge of and skills in interviewing techniques with individuals and families, and knowledge of current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) diagnostic criteria.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
