Position Overview:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will deliver patient care in accordance with the principles and practices of Practical Nursing, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role does not require the extensive specialized skills, judgment, and knowledge characteristic of professional nursing.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current unencumbered licensure with the appropriate state board as a practical nurse or current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • Certification in Basic Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:
The responsibilities outlined below are intended to convey the general nature of work performed by individuals in this position. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities.

  • Deliver direct patient care as specified in the patient's care plan and/or as directed by the Registered Nurse to enhance comfort and promote recovery.
  • Administer care to all assigned patients to ensure comfort and hygiene in a timely manner.
  • Execute designated therapeutic procedures for assigned patients as required.
  • Accurately observe, document, and report all patient concerns, symptoms, reactions, and progress to the Registered Nurse promptly.
  • Assist physicians and the Registered Nurse during examinations and procedures as assigned.
  • Utilize available resources in a cost-effective manner to help manage patient expenses.
  • Contribute to nursing assessments by collecting, reporting, and documenting objective and subjective data accurately and timely.
  • Monitor and report any changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse.
  • Participate in the development of the patient's care plan by providing relevant data and assisting in identifying priorities and measures to maintain comfort and support human functions.
  • Support patient and family education and rehabilitation by discussing patient needs with the Registered Nurse and adhering to the teaching plan.
  • Document nursing interventions and responses to care, communicating effectively with the healthcare team.
  • Provide patient care during designated shifts, following the nursing process and within the scope of practice.
  • Employ standards of care and practice to guide care delivery.
  • Safely administer medications (intramuscular, subcutaneous, IV, and oral) as assigned.
  • Accept accountability for care provided by self and delegated healthcare providers.
  • Consult with the Registered Nurse for guidance in delivering nursing care as necessary.
  • Seek instruction and supervision from the Registered Nurse when implementing nursing techniques or practices.

Heavy/Hard Work:
This role requires strength and stamina, including lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, positioning patients, standing, walking, and carrying patients, materials, and equipment weighing over 40 lbs.
