Position Overview: Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides effective and efficient nursing care, ensuring positive clinical outcomes and satisfaction for patients and their families. The LPN operates within the parameters set by the State Nurse Practice Act, contributing to nursing assessments and care planning, delivering direct patient care, and overseeing the care provided by unlicensed personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting patient evaluations
  • Developing care plans
  • Delivering direct patient care
  • Monitoring care provided by unlicensed staff
  • Utilizing Point Click Care (PCC) in accordance with established business processes
  • Performing drug counts at the beginning and end of shifts, as well as when necessary
  • Assisting physicians during rounds and examinations as required
  • Engaging in shift-to-shift communication between nursing staff
  • Collaborating with various departments to ensure timely and effective care tailored to individual needs and preferences
  • Fostering a respectful, team-oriented environment responsive to the concerns of staff, patients, and families
  • Enhancing nursing practice by participating in all required in-service training programs
  • Aiding in the orientation of newly hired nursing personnel
  • Promoting a culture of safety to maintain a healthy practice and living environment
  • Upholding confidentiality and safeguarding sensitive Protected Health Information (PHI) at all times
Educational and Vocational Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited practical or vocational nursing program is mandatory
  • Current licensure by the State Board of Nursing is required
  • Previous experience in rehabilitative or geriatric nursing is preferred
  • Maintenance of current BLS/CPR certification is necessary as per state requirements
Essential Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of nursing principles, including the ability to recognize symptoms and manage emergencies
  • Familiarity with medications, their proper dosages, and anticipated effects
  • Capability to coordinate, delegate, and supervise functions performed by unlicensed nursing staff
  • Ability to cultivate a patient-centered environment
  • Basic proficiency in computer usage
