Overview:
Responsible for the admission of patients, which encompasses interviewing individuals, preparing necessary admission documentation, and assigning appropriate accommodations. Receives all incoming documentation from external sources and ensures accuracy and medical necessity prior to linking it to patient records.

Key Responsibilities:


Oversees the initiation of the registration process, ensuring that consents are signed, dated, and witnessed correctly; facilitates patient transfers to other departments; maintains the admission sign-in log, and assists with pre-registration when feasible; distributes essential information forms to patients upon admission.

Ensures accurate identification of patients prior to the registration process by collecting social security numbers, insurance cards, and identification. Verifies all information for correctness regarding patient and guarantor details. Ensures that financial, demographic, and documentation requirements are met appropriately. Monitors the workflow of admissions to guarantee timely registration of patients. Manages follow-up on returned mail to secure accurate guarantor addresses.


Responsible for receiving all incoming documentation and reviewing orders for accuracy and medical necessity in accordance with hospital policies and insurance regulations.

Attaches all received documentation to the corresponding patient accounts.

Adheres to departmental budget and staffing guidelines. Provides insights for new processes and strategies aimed at improvement.


Ensures compliance with hospital, departmental, and billing policies and procedures, including Medicare medical necessity, and offers suggestions for departmental enhancements, following established workflow processes.


Monitors financial data, demographics, and documentation; aims for 98% accuracy in data; develops strategies to reduce insurance denials related to pre-certification, insurance verification, and follow-up; monthly audits will be conducted by supervisors to assess if quality objectives are achieved.

Meets accreditation standards.

Aims to achieve accounts receivable targets, enhance front-end collections by 30%, reduce bad debt, and eliminate denials.


Recognizes the significance and value of our stakeholders, including patients, visitors, healthcare providers, and staff, and strives to enhance patient satisfaction and community engagement.


Qualifications:

Education:
Minimum Requirement - High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience:
Minimum Requirement – On-the-job training or equivalent experience in admission procedures.

Additional Skills/Abilities:
Completes hospital and departmental orientation. Proficient in using personal computers. Capable of managing a sometimes demanding work environment; adaptable to varying and unpredictable situations. Willingness to work extended and irregular hours.
