Behavioral Health Specialist

Sun Behavioral is seeking a skilled Behavioral Health Specialist to join our team on the psychiatric unit. This role will play a critical part in providing direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN).
Responsibilities:
- Perform and record patient vital signs, intake and output, and notify RN of any changes.
- Continuously observe patients' behavior, mental status, and activities, notifying RN of any changes or unusual occurrences.
- Educate patients on safe behaviors and provide emotional support as needed.
- Assist with therapeutic educational groups and one-on-one observation for high-risk patients.
- Monitor patient compliance with pre- and post-procedure instructions, including ECT instructions, under the supervision of the RN.
- Provide general nursing care, such as transferring patients and assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), meals.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma or GED is required, along with CPR and hospital-selected de-escalation technique certification.
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting is essential, preferably in a behavioral health environment.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is preferred.
Salary: The estimated annual salary for this position is $45,000-$55,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
