EPS Design Engineer

Job Summary

Under general supervision, apply mechanical engineering principles and understanding to EPS product development and EPS product support projects; generate mechanical designs and drawings in accordance with specification requirements; access ERP database for item/BOM information and utilize dashboards to track and provide visibility on progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with Outside Sales in the review of project specifications;
  • Confirm with Outside Sales the technical requirements within specifications;
  • Utilize SolidWorks to produce 3D models, assemblies, and Y14.5 manufacturing drawings;
  • Guide the development and preparation of engineering data for drawings and specifications;
  • Provide functional direction in the design, construction, and testing of designs;
  • Offer technical advice or guidance to others;
  • Assist in resolving quality control issues;
  • Assemble data packages with all drawings, write NED/ECO instructions and produce bills of materials;
  • Handle all customer inquiries related to assigned responsibilities;
  • Interact with other departments such as engineering, production control and purchasing regarding the status of customer orders;
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel to perform engineering calculations and analysis using existing templates;
  • Utilize SyteLine ERP to access inventory and production databases;
  • Generate procedures and test plans for product qualifications and performance validation;
  • Coordinate project tasks;
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned;
  • Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position;
  • Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field;
  • General hands-on knowledge of basic drafting practices (form, fit, function, and dimensional tolerances);
  • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet software programs such as Microsoft Excel;
  • Trained in personal computer operation, applicable computer language, AutoCAD and SolidWorks CAD software programs.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, filing cabinets, photocopiers, and other office equipment, as applicable;
  • Ability to use a computer to access, enter and update various engineering, design, and customer data and to produce or update designs, drawing or specifications and related correspondence or documentation;
  • Ability to use basic hand tools to build and test products.
