As a key member of our nursing leadership team, you will be responsible for assisting the Director of Nursing in the day-to-day leadership of patient care areas, including the planning, organizing, and coordinating of patient care delivery to meet established standards.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Director of Nursing in identifying trends and changes in healthcare delivery and clinical practice, and collaborate with staff to implement improvements.
- Assist personnel to accept responsibility with respect to attainment of goals and utilization of resources.
- Develop and implement systems to measure patient care outcomes, utilization of standards of practice, and hospital policy and procedures.
- Ensure that each department has an implemented quality monitoring plan that measures patient outcomes and practice standards, and that improvement action plans are designed and implemented when adherence to standards meets thresholds for evaluation.
- Investigate patient, family, visitor, and physician complaints concerning services provided, initiate an action plan to resolve the concern, and communicate activities with the VP.
- Develop, review, and revise nursing and interdisciplinary policies and procedures to reflect current standards of practice and care.
- Maintain professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in areas of responsibility.
- Assist the Director of Nursing in ensuring the establishment of departmental goals and objectives, and ensure effective utilization of policies and procedures for departmental operations.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, orienting, validating competency of personnel, as well as providing leadership for conducting disciplinary action.
- Evaluate, select, utilize, and account for material resources with appropriate consideration for patient/staff needs, hospital policies and procedures, and budgetary constraints.
- Assist the Director of Nursing in development of operating and capital budget for assigned areas.
- Assist managers in adhering to approved operating and capital budgets.
- Prepare accurate departmental reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve patient care, healthcare practices, operational systems and processes, and interaction and communication between healthcare partners.
- Act as a resource and role model in initiating the PI process, and participate in development of action plans to achieve desired outcomes.
- Bachelor's of Science in Nursing and a Master's in a healthcare-related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in acute care, including a minimum of 2 years of experience in a nursing leadership/management position.
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in South Carolina.
- National nursing certification in specialty or must be acquired within 6 months of hire into the role.
