Job Summary

JCM Associates, Inc. is seeking a skilled Plumbing Apprentice/Helper to join our team in commercial mechanical construction projects in the MD, VA, and DC area.

We provide mechanical services throughout the Washington DC Metropolitan area, taking pride in every project we undertake and striving to communicate and accomplish the goals each client sets out to achieve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside licensed plumbers to complete projects and tasks efficiently
  • Assist in diagnosing problems and failures in plumbing systems
  • Cut and assemble pipes, clean water supply and disposal systems
  • Assist with installation, repairs, and maintenance of chilled water, steam, heat, water, gas, drainage, sewage, and other plumbing systems
  • Test for leaks in new and repair systems using compressed air and/or water
  • Follow safety guidelines set forth by the company and supervisor
  • Operate reamers, threading discs, sewer tapes, pipe cutters, snakes, and other plumbing equipment and hand tools
  • Assist plumbers in inspecting joints, valves, pumps, boilers, heaters, sinks, commodes, tanks, and other plumbing system components to locate malfunctions and repair or replace as necessary
  • Perform preventative maintenance work as required

Requirements:

  • One year of verifiable field experience as a Plumber's Helper
  • Own tools
  • Ability to understand plans and specifications
  • Understand written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Attendance, reliability, dependability, and flexibility
  • Strong communication skills
