Job Overview

We are looking for a meticulous and structured Hygiene Operations Supervisor to manage the sanitation and cleanliness protocols within our food production facility. In this role, you will ensure a hygienic and secure workplace for all personnel, adhering to established sanitation regulations and standards, including FDA, SQF, HACCP, FSMA, and GMP.

This position will report to the Plant Manager and the Regional Food Safety Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure a sanitized work environment by adhering to the Master Sanitation Cleaning schedule and maintaining various sanitation programs and policies.
  • Formulate and enforce sanitation policies and procedures to uphold a clean and safe environment in line with industry standards and regulations.
  • Lead and manage a team of sanitation personnel, providing direction and support to ensure effective sanitation operations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the facility to pinpoint areas needing attention and implement corrective measures as necessary.
  • Oversee sanitation supply inventory to guarantee that the department's needs are adequately met.
  • Foster the development of sanitation staff through effective communication, performance evaluations, coaching, and oversight.
  • Collaborate directly with Pest Control Providers.
  • Participate in weekly plant GMP audit inspections.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations, including OSHA, FDA, and local health department requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of processes aimed at minimizing product safety risks.
  • Provide assistance to other departments as required.
  • Engage in all customer audits, certification audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Supervise a sanitation team of over 25 hourly union employees.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with departmental staff and other department heads.
  • While the primary shift will be first, flexibility to work different shifts may be required.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct all business interactions in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Utilize computers and software effectively.
  • Propose strategies for cost reduction within the facility.
  • Support and implement innovative project ideas and designs.
  • Enhance professional knowledge by attending company-sponsored workshops.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Over 5 years of sanitation experience in a food production setting.
  • Preferred certifications in HACCP and FSMA (PCQI).
  • More than 3 years of experience in a supervisory or assistant managerial role is preferred.
  • Proficient in personal computer skills, particularly with MS Office.
  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Experience in scheduling, training, and directing cleaning teams.
  • Familiarity with the American Institute of Baking inspection protocols.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Capability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent typing and use of a personal computer.
