Position Overview:

In this role, the Registered Nurse operates under general oversight and collaborates with fellow healthcare professionals to utilize clinical judgment in diagnosing and addressing human responses to existing or potential health issues. The RN is accountable for assessing, planning, directing, delivering, and evaluating nursing care for patients while coordinating nursing activities with other healthcare disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment: Conduct thorough multi-system evaluations, encompassing biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning needs. Recognize deviations from normal in routine laboratory diagnostic tests and reassess patients throughout their hospital stay. Perform comprehensive discharge assessments.
  • Planning: Formulate a personalized nursing care plan that is responsive to the developmental needs of the patient. Coordinate care activities and discharge planning with various hospital departments and community organizations. Develop and document patient education plans.
  • Implementation: Execute appropriate measures based on established protocols for managing medical and surgical patients. Follow the physician's care plan accurately and document care in the electronic medical record (EMR) according to policies and procedures. Employ a multidisciplinary approach when necessary and perform all required procedures competently.
  • Evaluation: Assess the effectiveness of assessment methods, care plans, and patient responses to treatment. Engage in unit quality assurance initiatives.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience:

  • At least nine (9) months of RN experience.

One (1) year of recent ICU nursing experience or successful completion of the Kaiser ICU cross-training program.

Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.

Licensure, Certification, Registration:

  • Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within three months of hire.

Additional Requirements:

  • Proficient computer keyboarding skills.
  • Experience with drug calculations.
  • Familiarity with Cardiac Rhythm Recognition.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior healthcare experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of recent ICU nursing experience preferred.
  • CCRN certification preferred.
  • Experience in Dialysis, SLED, or equivalent preferred.
