As a Registered Nurse in our Emergency Department, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our team. Under the general supervision of our healthcare team, you will use your clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems.
Key Responsibilities- Assessment: Perform accurate multi-system assessments, including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, education needs, and discharge planning needs. Identify deviations from normal on routine lab diagnostic tests and reassess patients throughout their hospitalization.
- Planning: Develop an individual nursing plan of care that is sensitive to the developmental needs of the patient. Coordinate patient care activities and discharge planning with other hospital and clinic departments and community agencies. Develop patient teaching plans and document on care plans or teaching plans.
- Implementation: Initiate appropriate measures based on protocol for the management of medical and/or surgical patients. Bases nursing care on protocol in place for management of each patient. Correctly carry out the physician's plan of care and accurately document in the electronic medical record.
- Evaluation: Evaluate assessment methods, plan of care, and patient response to treatment. Participate in unit quality assurance activities.
- Experience: Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience. One (1) year of current ED experience or successful completion of the Kaiser Permanente New Grad Internship Program in the ED.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- License, Certification, Registration: Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course within 6 months of hire OR Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire. Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided) required at hire. NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 3 months of hire. Basic Life Support required at hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
- Computer keyboarding skills.
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course.
- Previous healthcare experience.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field.
- CEN preferred.
- TNCC preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias preferred.
- A desire and ability to function within the nursing process preferred.
- A desire and ability to function within professional and personnel standards as defined.
- Ability to use and apply effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills preferred.
