Key Responsibilities
  • Take medical histories and record vital signs
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients and their families
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
  • Administer medications as delegated by a physician
  • Perform basic laboratory tests and procedures
  • Assist with administrative duties, such as scheduling appointments and handling billing
Requirements
  • Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
  • 1-3 years of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant - Certified in a clinical setting
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA
  • BLS certification
