Position Title: Charge Capture Processor (Medical Billing)

Location: Rancho Mirage, CA

Contract Duration: 3 Months (Temp to Hire)

Compensation: $20/hr on W2

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to compliance policies and proactively address any compliance-related inquiries or concerns.
  • Daily review of the assigned charge capture work queue, prioritizing tasks based on financial significance and service dates.
  • Accurate matching of Evaluation & Management (E & M) services with corresponding procedures.
  • Verification of billing areas, service providers, and billing entities.
  • Assessment of patient status: new versus established.
  • Validation of National Drug Code (NDC) numbers, appropriate quantities, and administration codes.
  • Update or confirm injury dates as necessary.
  • Examine documentation to identify any missed charge opportunities.
  • Record comments for each encounter processed.
  • Flag encounters requiring coder or management review with appropriate comments.
  • Update insurance information as needed, including conducting current verifications.
  • Maintain productivity standards in line with departmental policies.
  • Ensure encounter turnaround times are maintained at or below three days.
  • Identify and report any system issues or trends impacting the charge capture process.
  • Participate in coder continuing education and departmental meetings as required.
  • Process and reconcile any assigned manual batches.
  • Exhibit teamwork by completing training in various roles and providing assistance as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
