Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shop Manager to lead our service department at Triad Truck Equipment. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and profitable operation of our upfit shop, while providing exceptional customer service and maintaining a safe and professional work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations of the service department, including staffing, customer retention, cost controls, and achievement of objectives.
  • Monitor and control the performance of the department using appropriate reports, tracking systems, and surveys.
  • Forecast goals and objectives for the department and strive to meet them.
  • Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for the service department.
  • Attend managers' meetings and contribute to the development of departmental strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations that affect service operations, such as hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with manufacturer warranty and policy procedures.
  • Account for all documents and ensure that none are missing or processed incorrectly.
  • Direct and schedule the activities of all department employees.
  • Facilitate and/or conduct technical training and send employees to appropriate training schools as needed.
  • Monitor technicians' daily productivity reports and corresponding payroll records.
  • Monitor and follow up on parts orders daily with the parts manager to ensure availability.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
  • Inform technicians of time allowances on each order.
  • Maintain high-quality service repairs and minimize comebacks.
  • Conduct periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
  • Keep abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommend purchases.
  • Ensure that the work areas and customer waiting area are kept clean and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with vocational and technical schools to enhance personnel recruitment activities.
  • Ensure the proper care, storage, and inventory of special tools.
  • Ensure that customers' service files are up-to-date and readily available for reference.
  • Ensure that all customers are greeted promptly, given fair estimates on costs and time required for repairs and maintenance, and proper customer authorization signatures are captured.
  • Handle customer complaints immediately and according to dealership's guidelines.
  • Daily follow-up with all customers to communicate status changes and updates.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and ensure others in the department maintain a professional appearance.
Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background checks and drug screening
