Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Staffing Coordinator to join our team at Northern California Behavioral Health System. The successful candidate will be responsible for scheduling all nursing staff, maintaining accurate records, and providing administrative support to the Director of Nursing and other nurse leaders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule and coordinate nursing staff assignments, ensuring adequate coverage and minimizing overtime.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of nursing staff contact information, attendance, and time-off requests.
  • Monitor and analyze attendance records, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Process time-off requests and approve or deny based on departmental needs.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership and Human Resources to ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Develop and maintain training programs for nursing staff, including orientation and competency assessments.
  • Perform various administrative tasks, such as updating unit information and preparing correspondence.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Current NCI equivalent as approved by the Chief Nursing Officer (or obtained within the first 30 days of hire).
  • Expert-level Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Minimum three years' experience in administrative support roles.
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting, particularly in patient psychiatric care.
Skills and Abilities
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
  • Sensitivity to and willingness to interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Advanced proficiency with software and/or equipment, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational skills, with ability to prioritize projects, work independently, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively and possessing the skills to lead, influence, and motivate others.
Physical Requirements
  • Use standard office equipment and access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.
  • Communicate effectively in person or via telephone in a manner that can be understood by those with whom the person is speaking.
  • Give and follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Perform complex mental functions and basic arithmetic functions.
