Key Responsibilities

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for administering therapies to patients experiencing breathing difficulties due to cardiac or pulmonary issues, under the supervision of a physician. This role includes conducting tests that assist in diagnosing and evaluating respiratory conditions. Key tasks involve:

  • Operating mechanical ventilators and therapeutic gas administration systems.
  • Managing environmental control systems and aerosol generators, adhering to specified treatment parameters.
  • Providing emergency care, including artificial respiration and cardiopulmonary resuscitation assistance.
Additional Information

Pulmonary function technologists focus on assessing lung function to identify conditions or disorders through various tests, including spirometry and exercise stress tests.
