Primary Function:
The Staff Pharmacist plays a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing the clinical aspects of pharmaceutical programs offered by the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assess incoming referrals for precision and thoroughness, ensuring effective communication with prescribers for the verification of prescription details when necessary.
2. Manage the transfer of referrals between pharmacies efficiently.
3. Provide counseling to patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and interactions with other drugs.
4. Document medication errors through established internal protocols and report adverse events to the appropriate authorities.
5. Stay updated on relevant clinical information and disseminate this knowledge to staff as required.
6. Collaborate with other teams or programs in both clinical and administrative capacities as needed.
7. Handle inbound and outbound clinical inquiries from patients and prescribers.
8. Address employee concerns by escalating them to management when appropriate.
9. Support the daily operations of all pharmacy programs.
10. Assist Clinical Directors and Team Leads in enhancing the quality and efficiency of pharmacy operations.
11. Maintain a professional demeanor while interacting with patients, visitors, colleagues, management, and clients.
12. Engage in team-building and training initiatives for pharmacy staff.
13. Act as a quality improvement coordinator when designated by the Quality Oversight Committee.
14. Provide assistance to fellow pharmacists, Clinical Directors, or management team members as required.
15. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Required Qualifications:
MANDATORY:
- Current, unrestricted Pharmacist license in New Jersey.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a pharmacy setting.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and time management skills are essential.
- Knowledge or a willingness to learn about pharmacy operations, products, benefits, and terminology is required.
