Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Librarian to join our team at Worthington Libraries. As a Youth Services Librarian, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining our collection, as well as creating engaging programs for children, teens, and adults.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collection Development: Collaborate with Materials Selectors to develop and maintain a high-quality collection that meets the needs of our community.
  • Program Development: Design and deliver programs that promote literacy, learning, and community engagement, including author talks, book clubs, and other events.
  • Patron Services: Provide exceptional customer service to patrons, including answering research questions, recommending materials, and assisting with technology-related issues.
  • Community Outreach: Develop and maintain relationships with local organizations and community groups to promote library services and resources.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association-accredited school.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year of customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of Integrated Library Systems (ILS) and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to speak before groups and deliver programs.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods, as well as lift and move up to 50 pounds, push book trucks with up to 150 pounds of materials, and stand for extended periods.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position that requires occasional travel by automobile. The successful candidate will be able to work accurately with attention to detail, maintain confidentiality, and use appropriate judgment in handling information and records.
