Job Summary:

The Trauma Performance Improvement Registered Nurse plays a critical role in ensuring the highest quality of care for trauma patients at Jackson Health System. This position is responsible for coordinating performance improvement reviews, analyzing data, and implementing quality initiatives to improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Trauma Program Manager in developing and implementing a quality plan that addresses multidisciplinary and patient-centered care.
  • Enter performance improvement issues into the registry and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Notify the Trauma Program Manager of performance improvement issues that require attention.
  • Monitor sentinel events, deaths, transfers, complications, hospital length of stay, and adherence to protocols.
  • Assist with preparing trauma quality meetings, registry meetings, and other meetings as needed.
  • Participate in registry validation activities by reviewing charts and reporting findings to the Lead Registrar and Trauma Program Manager.
  • Assist with the preparation for the Florida Trauma Site Survey.
  • Direct and assist with the Trauma Program Manager's duties in their absence or during scheduled time off/vacations.
  • Assist with coordinating educational and outreach opportunities sponsored by the trauma center.
  • Assess the needs for policies, procedures, protocols, supplies, and equipment related to trauma patient care in coordination with the trauma team.
  • Follow and perform all related unit-specific policies and procedures.
  • Utilize job and unit-specific equipment as required.

Requirements:

  • Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Valid Florida RN license is required.
  • Must meet and maintain valid and current all unit-specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required by regulatory and/or nursing standard of practice for the specialty.
