Job Responsibilities and Qualifications

The Trauma Performance Improvement Nurse Coordinator is responsible for conducting both retrospective and concurrent evaluations of patient care records, identifying areas for enhancement and compliance with established standards. A detailed report is prepared for formal reviews by relevant committees as necessary. The Coordinator also leads the implementation of action plans to address identified issues and participates in multidisciplinary rounds.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the creation, execution, and assessment of the Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Plan.
  • Maintaining the Trauma Performance Improvement database to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conducting concurrent case reviews to evaluate quality and efficiency of care.
  • Participating in educational initiatives for nursing staff and resident physicians involved in trauma care.
  • Acting as a liaison between clinical areas and trauma care teams.
  • Coordinating monthly meetings for the Trauma Systems & Operations Committee and Peer Review sessions.
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience is required.
  • Preferred: 3 years of recent experience in trauma nursing.
  • Experience in Quality/Performance Improvement is advantageous.
  • Current Florida Registered Nurse license or recognized compact licensure.
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • A Master's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Current Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certifications.
  • TNCC and/or TCAR certification is required.
