About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Research Administrator to join our team at the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. As a key member of our research operations team, you will play a critical role in supporting the department's day-to-day contracts and grants administrative operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with principal investigators to prepare administrative components of proposals, ensuring compliance with sponsored and non-sponsored research guidelines.
  • Develop, prepare, and finalize project budgets, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Review and approve expenditures, ensuring adherence to university and government policies.
  • Serve as a liaison between principal investigators, the Office of Sponsored Research, research groups, and other departments, providing expert guidance and support.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Sponsored Research to ensure awards are set up properly and cost-sharing requirements are fulfilled.
  • Develop and communicate reports supporting project status, providing timely and accurate information to stakeholders.
  • Participate in contract closeout process, ensuring compliance with university and government regulations.
  • Stay up-to-date on university and government policies, providing expert advice and guidance to principal investigators and other university staff.
  • Participate in process improvements, identifying opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide cross-training and mentorship to colleagues, sharing knowledge and expertise to support team success.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or combined experience/education as a substitute for minimum education.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in contracts and grants administration, with a strong understanding of governmental regulations and accounting principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and other research computer software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4 years of experience in contracts and grants administration, with a strong understanding of procurement needs and vendor requirements.
  • Knowledge of relevant research computer software, including Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SPSS, Visio, and SunGard.
  • Experience in creating and analyzing statistical reports, with a strong understanding of data analysis and interpretation.
