Job Summary

As an Aquatics Safety Trainer with the YMCA of Greater Boston, you will play a critical role in teaching Aquatics safety and certifying positions required by the YMCA. This position requires providing quality and consistency to all employees, instructing on Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and teaching lifesaving skills. Certified by the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association, you will work independently to teach the techniques of CPR and other first-aid measures to individuals and groups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet with Aquatics employees early in employment for certification.
  • Assemble classroom to meet required guidelines.
  • Instruct various CPR/AED courses in accordance with all required parameters.
  • Issue and collect all required paperwork in accordance with association procedures and files accordingly.
  • Issue various certification cards following all company policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all YGB pool rules and policies, and MA DPH requirements.
  • Know and activate the center and pool EAP when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all YMCA safety standards and best practices, and regulatory health and safety requirements in the aquatic facilities.
  • Prevent emergencies by scanning the pool in a continuous and consistent manner.
  • Recognize emergencies or potential incidents and address them immediately.
  • Know and activate the branch and pool EAP when needed.
  • Perform, assist, or rescue as needed.
  • Provide care such as, CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen as needed.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or greater.
  • Must currently possess or obtain American Heart Association (AHA), American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) Instructor level certifications within the first 60 days of employment.
  • CPR/AED, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen required within 60 days of hire.
  • Participate in all center safety and quality drills.
  • Attend all required in-service trainings and any additional trainings as required.
  • Ability to speak confidently and conduct lifesaving courses as a lead instructor.
  • Ability to lift 30 or more pounds independently.
  • Must be enthusiastic, responsible, articulate, and well-organized.
  • Must have flexibility in various work environments and be willing to travel locally.
  • Successful completion of Pre-Employment Screening background check.
