Senior Occupational Therapist II

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Occupational Therapist II to join our team at NYC Health + Hospitals. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for evaluating and treating patients with a variety of conditions, including orthopedic, neurological, medical, and surgical patients.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate and treat patients with a variety of conditions, including orthopedic, neurological, medical, and surgical patients.
- Develop and modify treatment plans and goals, as needed, throughout each patient's therapy sessions.
- Consult with medical staff regarding recommended therapy.
- Attend team conferences to discuss a patient's progress, problems relating to therapy and discharge planning.
- Participate in in-service programs for professional personnel, students and other employees.
- Attend continuing education seminars throughout the year and is required to give subsequent in-services on the course material.
- Encouraged to attend grand round lectures given by guest lecturers.
- Answers inquiries from staff, physicians, other medical personnel and relatives of patients regarding each patient's progress.
- Required to supervise student occupational therapists, and/or occupational therapist assistants, plan their course of instruction, and evaluate their performance according to guidelines set by the New York State Occupational Therapy Association.
- Responsible for supervision of ancillary staff members and volunteers.
- Participates in the development of new evaluation and treatment documentation.
- Responsible for contributing to the development of new performance improvement monitors.
- Responsible for keeping abreast of developments in the field, and sharing that information with co-workers.
- Assists in orientating/reorienting staff members regarding departmental policies, procedures, and practices.
- As assigned, coordinates and/or manages activities in one or more clinical specialties such as geriatrics, orthopedics, etc., and assists in training/in-servicing appropriate staff members based on advanced knowledge in one or more specialty areas.
- Assists in implementing new occupational therapy programs and participates in educational outreach for the communities CIH serves.
- A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college with a major in Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association and two years of full-time experience administering occupational therapy under professional supervision; or,
- A combination of the education and/or experience described above equivalent to (1).However, all candidates must have a minimum of one year experience as described in (1) and a Baccalaureate Degree.
- All candidates will be required to have a valid Occupational Therapy License and current registration issued by the New York State Department of Education.
- For Assignment to Level II, all of the above with one year of additional experience, or a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy or a directly related discipline.
