Maintenance Operations Lead Role

The Maintenance Operations Lead is a critical role responsible for overseeing and implementing preventive and autonomous maintenance systems in a specific area or production line. This position requires active participation in daily management systems and close collaboration with Process Owners and Continuous Improvement leads to develop and execute plans that enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Support and Lead Deployment: Support and lead the deployment, adherence, and continuous improvement of Autonomous Operations (AOE) and Daily Management Systems (DMS) for the Preventive Maintenance (PM) pillar on the floor.
  • Develop Daily, Weekly, and Annual Plans: Work directly with Process Owners and CI leads to develop daily, weekly, and annual plans that align with business objectives.
  • Centerline and Clean/Inspect/Lube Systems: Work directly with Process Owners and CI leads to develop and maintain Centerline and Clean/Inspect/Lube systems that ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Attend and Participate in Meetings: Attend and participate in Level 1, Level 2, and AM/PM team meetings to drive problem-solving initiatives and enhance collaboration.
  • Technical Knowledge: Be knowledgeable of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.
  • Critical Thinking and Troubleshooting: Utilize critical thinking and troubleshooting skills to come up with and execute corrective and preventative actions to minimize downtime.
  • Weekly Maintenance Plans: Prepare weekly maintenance plans and prioritize work for line downtime to ensure minimal disruption to production.
  • Coach and Train Maintenance Technicians: Coach and teach maintenance technicians on AM/PM activities, including training on new PM updates as required.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to adjust schedules to work with employees on other schedules as required.
  • Spare Parts Management: Participate actively in spare parts management and order parts as required to minimize downtime.
  • Project Coordination: Participate in the coordination of projects with contractors, OEMs, or in-house resources to ensure timely completion.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Track and trend key KPIs for the area, including downtime, PM completion, SAP utilization, and others.

Qualifications

  • Education: A high school diploma or GED is required; a two-year technical degree in electrical, mechanical, or both is preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems, including predictive and preventative maintenance techniques.
  • Communication and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to read and interpret work orders, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions; ability to complete forms detailing maintenance work performed.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic and advanced math, convert units of measurement, and interpret graphs and diagrams.
  • Problem-Solving Methodologies: Knowledge of problem-solving methodologies like BDA, RCFA, and 5 Whys to troubleshoot complex equipment issues.
  • Data Analysis: Proficiency in using SAP for tracking maintenance activities and analyzing maintenance data to drive improvements.
  • Industry Experience: Industry experience working in a manufacturing environment utilizing TPM and lean principles; strong understanding of TPM pillars, including Autonomous Maintenance and Planned Maintenance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proven track record of improving equipment reliability and reducing downtime; experience with planning and scheduling work; continuous improvement expertise, including lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving methodologies.
