Position Overview: This role involves collaborating closely with the Assistant Director of Facilities and Planning to address daily operational matters related to project oversight, space utilization, and facility administration within the College of Engineering. This position will manage a variety of projects, ranging from small to large scale, that necessitate analytical skills and innovative problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Oversight:

  • Lead and coordinate selected construction, renovation, and safety projects as the primary contact for the college.
  • Establish, revise, and uphold timelines to ensure projects and regular maintenance are completed efficiently.
  • Manage relationships with various stakeholders including college departments, maintenance teams, environmental health and safety, and external contractors.
  • Facilitate the design of office and laboratory environments in compliance with local and state regulations, university policies, and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the university architect's office during the planning phases of renovations.
  • Engage with departmental personnel to ascertain requirements for new facilities.
  • Oversee vendor and service provider interactions.
  • Assess and propose operational improvements as necessary.

Space Utilization:

  • Implement policies for the scheduling of shared facilities, including meeting rooms and communal areas.
  • Participate in the Space Allocation Planning Committee, serving as a resource for the group.
  • Organize and supervise building renovations and relocations.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other university groups regarding space management.
  • Work with research centers and the University’s Discovery Park to manage interdisciplinary spaces.
  • Coordinate the relocation of faculty, staff, and students while anticipating the needs of various groups.
  • Provide data to Space Administration for updates to the Facilities Management System.
  • Compile space analysis reports for senior leadership.
  • Conduct space audits for the College of Engineering.
  • Develop and maintain metrics related to facility usage across the college.

Facility Administration:

  • Formulate, execute, and uphold policies and procedures regarding facility management and operations for the College of Engineering.
  • Review and suggest operational enhancements as appropriate.
  • Offer guidance and support to building representatives and facility managers.
  • Provide recommendations concerning exhibits and safety/security measures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

  • Preferred: Familiarity with SAP, Facilities Management Systems, Project Portfolio Management, and Success Factors.
