We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist to join our team at UPMC - Pittsburgh Medical Center. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for assisting surgeons and surgical assistants during complex surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and maintain a sterile environment for surgical procedures, including setting up surgical instruments and equipment.
- Assist surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures, passing instruments and supplies as needed.
- Help to position patients on the operating table and cover them with sterile surgical drapes.
- Count and verify the accuracy of sponges, needles, and other supplies used during procedures.
- Participate in the preparation, care, and disposal of specimens taken for laboratory analysis.
- Assist in the cleanup of the operating room and restock supplies as needed.
- Collaborate with clinicians to disseminate new knowledge and best practices.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment through continued alertness to safety and explosive hazards and aseptic technique.
- 2 years of current surgical technician experience that demonstrates advanced knowledge of at least 2 surgical specialties.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Technologist Surgery Certified (TSC).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal.
- Act 33 with renewal.
- Act 34 with renewal.
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
