Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room for surgical cases by arranging instruments and supplies according to the specific requirements of each procedure.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the surgical area between procedures, ensuring all supplies are restocked and ready for use.
- Drape patients appropriately for surgery, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Assist the surgical team during operations, demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills in the first scrub role across a variety of surgical procedures.
- Maintain accurate counts of surgical instruments, sutures, and sponges throughout the procedure.
- Prepare the patient's skin for surgery in compliance with hospital standards and protocols.
- Uphold aseptic techniques, actively monitoring for any potential breaches in sterile practices.
- Support surgeons during operations by retracting tissues as directed and managing specimens with care.
- Mentor and train newly hired Surgical Technologists and Registered Nurses, sharing expertise and best practices.
- Participate in the education of students in the surgical technology program.
- Depending on the assignment, may assist with endoscopy procedures and manage departmental inventory.

- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of growth and development principles relevant to the patient population served.
- Commit to patient safety by adhering to all safety regulations and reporting any potential hazards or errors.
- Follow established policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with quality assessment and infection control standards.

- Contribute to a collaborative work environment by providing exceptional service and fostering teamwork.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is necessary.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist or Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor is required upon hire, along with Basic Life Support certification.
- Completion of a surgical technologist training program is mandatory upon hire.
