Position Overview


The Therapy Lead is a vital role that encompasses a multidisciplinary approach to ensure departmental alignment with the CAMC Health System's standards for regulatory compliance, strategic initiatives, human resources, budget oversight, and financial management.

This leadership position is tasked with the execution of programs, quality assurance measures, and educational support, while fostering a constructive work atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain effective communication with the Therapy Director and team regarding departmental requirements in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with administrative, medical, nursing, and ancillary personnel to deliver optimal services and comprehensive patient care.
  • Address and resolve patient and physician complaints through investigation and problem-solving.
  • Assess and allocate workload to determine staffing needs, minimizing overtime while managing time-off requests to ensure sufficient coverage for regular and holiday shifts.
  • Engage in clinical responsibilities, dedicating 40% of time to patient care from Monday to Friday, and participate in weekend rotations as required.
  • Ensure seamless transitions for patients throughout the healthcare system, coordinating nursing and therapy care with medical staff and other departments to provide comprehensive patient support.
  • Conduct interviews, selections, recommendations, promotions, counseling, evaluations, and disciplinary actions for personnel within the scope of responsibility.
  • Oversee the orientation of new staff members, familiarizing them with the work environment, equipment, and colleagues while coordinating educational programs to meet their needs.
  • Collaborate with the director to develop and revise policies and procedures for SMC, ensuring compliance with standards set by CAMC, regulatory bodies, and professional organizations.
  • Uphold standards of care and scope of service for the department, implementing and maintaining a quality assurance program.
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions with the Therapy Director and staff to establish annual goals aligned with the organization's mission, vision, values, and pillars, and engage in the annual performance review process.
  • Assist with departmental payroll functions, including updating records with staff schedule changes and maintaining pay and benefit documentation.
  • Support the Therapy Director in preparing and maintaining reports and records related to departmental activities, such as monthly treatment reports, statistics, calendars, and schedules.
  • Interpret, administer, and enforce hospital and departmental policies affecting therapy personnel.
  • Identify educational needs of current staff and collaborate with management, medical staff, and peers to coordinate educational programs that ensure competency for quality care.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


For positions involving direct patient contact, employees must possess and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary for developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment, or care as defined by the department's patient demographics.

Specifically, employees must demonstrate competency in: 1) obtaining and interpreting information based on patient needs; 2) understanding growth and development; and 3) recognizing the range of treatments required by patients.

Competency must be demonstrated through initial orientation and ongoing validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and departmental competency checklist.

Educational Requirements
  • Associate's Degree (Required)
Experience: 3-5 years in Therapy Services

Required Credentials
  • Occupational Therapy Assistant License (Required)
  • Physical Therapy Assistant License (Required)
  • Basic Life Support Certification (Required) within 30 days of hire
