Job Summary:

Novatae Risk Group, a national wholesale brokerage, is seeking an experienced Commercial Excess & Surplus Broker to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of submissions, presenting accounts to insurance carriers, and marketing new and renewal business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Submission Preparation: Oversee the preparation of submissions, including applications and support documents, to ensure timely and accurate delivery to insurance carriers.
  • Account Presentation: Present accounts to insurance carriers in a favorable and compelling manner, with the goal of securing a strong program.
  • Business Development: Market new and renewal business in conjunction with designated sales teams, identifying opportunities for growth and cultivating new markets.
  • Program Analysis: Collect and analyze all necessary information to understand the current program, making recommendations for improvement.
  • Underwriting Reports: Order applicable underwriting reports as needed to support the submission process.
  • Quote Management: Ensure quotes are provided in a timely manner, following submissions through the process.
  • Sales and Marketing: Solicit new business through various sales and marketing techniques, establishing relationships with insurance carriers and other stakeholders.
  • Administrative Support: Coordinate and handle administrative workflows in conjunction with support teams to ensure accurate and prompt response to service issues.

Requirements:

  • Business Acumen: Skilled in business writing and situation analysis, with a strong understanding of property and casualty insurance, including coverages, rating, terminology, and technical procedures.
  • Communication Skills: Energetic, self-motivated individuals who are goal-oriented and can thrive in a team environment and autonomously, with strong communication skills and the ability to establish new relationships.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge and experience of property and casualty insurance, including coverages, rating, terminology, and technical procedures, with a P&C license or E&S licenses.
  • Sales and Marketing: Must be sales-driven, with a strong ability to establish new relationships and learn communication strategies and sales methods.
  • Education and Experience: A four-year college degree is preferred, with 1-3 years of relative experience, including either Wholesale Broker or MGA experience.
