BBSI Southern California is collaborating with a leading designer and manufacturer of prefabricated modular structures. The prefabrication sector is experiencing remarkable growth, catering to diverse industries such as education, government, commercial, industrial, and specialized markets.

In response to this increasing demand, we are seeking a skilled Senior Structural Engineer to enhance our team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to a flourishing industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and validate architectural plans to ensure adherence to applicable California Building Codes and related regulations, including the California Plumbing Code, California Mechanical Code, California Electric Code, and State disabled access codes.
  • Assess structural calculations and standards to confirm compliance with engineering principles and codes.
  • Prepare energy calculations, including COMCHECK, CAL GREEN, and TITLE 24.
  • Work closely with the Estimating Manager and Director of Operations to convert building estimates into detailed, code-compliant drawings tailored for production.
  • Identify and resolve potential issues highlighted in third-party or engineering reviews.
  • Engage with external third-party agencies and Professional Engineers throughout the design-build process.
  • Coordinate with third-party entities in the creation of State Approved Drawings.
  • Collaborate with third-party Inspectors and Quality Assurance personnel during State Inspections to ensure compliance with approved drawings.
  • Conduct inspections during production, coordinating corrections for any discrepancies from approved drawings.
  • Manage multiple projects effectively and prioritize tasks to ensure a seamless production workflow.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or architectural design.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in providing building design and engineering services, including plan review.
  • A valid Professional Engineer or Architect license issued by the State of California.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various building codes, including the International Building Code, International Mechanical and Plumbing Codes, International Energy Conservation Code, and the National Electric Code.
  • Basic understanding of standard construction disciplines, including steel building practices, framing, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, to assist in drawing package development.
  • Proficiency in structural calculations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities when addressing field corrections.
