Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cytology Prep Tech to join our team at Sonora Quest. As a Cytology Prep Tech, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of cytology samples for high-complexity analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receives and processes cytology samples for analysis, adhering to CLIA '88 guidelines and departmental standards.
  • Performs all essential functions of a Testing Level II employee, as defined by the department, with a focus on quality and productivity.
  • Assists with department compliance with laboratory accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements, including CLIA '88, JCAHO, CAP, and OSHA.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to ensure seamless specimen processing and analysis.
  • Participates in quality assurance activities, including data collection and analysis, to ensure compliance and departmental standards.
  • Performs supplementary tasks to support other aspects of the Cytology department, including slide filing, special processing techniques, and staining of specimens.
Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent, or successfully completed military training of 50 or more weeks as a medical laboratory specialist.
  • Associate's degree in any field with 20 hours of chemistry and/or biological sciences credits, or 20 hours of chemistry and/or biological sciences credit with three years of working in a clinical laboratory.
  • MLT (ASCP) certification.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biological Sciences, or related field, and applicable laboratory experience.
