Job Summary

The Residential Direct Support Professional (RDSP) plays a vital role in providing a supportive and inclusive environment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position requires a compassionate and dedicated individual who can provide skill-building and support to promote maximum independence for each individual.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical support, including scheduling and accompanying individuals for appointments, and helping them understand and follow doctor's orders.
  • Assume responsibility for following doctors' orders in providing care for individuals in service.
  • Maintain current certification in First Aid/CPR/AED and provide input into and/or develop a person-centered service plan to support individuals served in the community.
  • Administer medications as prescribed and monitor for potential side effects, reporting observed information to the prescribing physician.
  • Intervene in crisis situations and emergencies, and make referrals to and seek consultation from other sources as needed.
  • Provide a safe home environment and complete required emergency drills as required by licensing and/or other governing entities.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a high school diploma or equivalency and certification as a Medication Aide within 90 days of hire. You must also be able to work independently and as part of a team to actively participate in daily activities and provide a loving, supportive home environment for the individuals served.
