The Academic Coach - Student Success Specialist will report to the Director of Student Support Services and participate in a number of support services. This role is responsible for providing academic, career, and life skills coaching to students in a case-management format, monitoring their academic progress, and identifying support resources as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Recruit, identify, recommend, and enroll eligible students in the program.
- Provide academic, career, and life skills coaching to students in a case-management format.
- Monitor the academic progress of students and identify support resources as needed.
- Facilitate student retention by assisting with goal setting, providing self-improvement workshops, and career guidance.
- Assist students in selecting and completing admissions paperwork for transfer to a four-year institution.
- Maintain current and accurate program files and meet other requirements for compliance with federal regulations and college policies.
- Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, sociology, or a related field, with a preference for candidates with a master's degree.
- Prior experience in college student services, working with under-prepared adult students, or dealing with adults who need assistance in reaching goals is preferred.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
