Position Summary:

The Senior Auditor will be responsible for conducting comprehensive operational audits, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and cultivating strong relationships across various departments.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist Audit Leadership in strategizing operational audits, including initial assessments, developing testing methodologies, and prioritizing objectives based on risk.
  • Conduct onsite and remote audits, evaluating the risks faced by different departments and ensuring the effectiveness and compliance of existing controls.
  • Support the compliance process by planning and executing Sarbanes-Oxley requirements throughout the fiscal year.
  • Communicate audit findings to stakeholders through detailed reports and presentations.
  • Engage with departments to provide insights on internal controls and operational improvements.
  • Contribute to the formulation of the annual internal audit strategy.
  • Follow up on the implementation of recommended enhancements with relevant teams.
  • Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate their review processes.
  • Stay informed about advancements in auditing technology and trends within the educational sector.
  • Review quarterly financial documents, including reports and press releases.

Promote the University of Denver's culture and values within the department and across the institution to ensure alignment with our mission.

Participate in special initiatives and undertake additional responsibilities as needed.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in auditing, accounting, or a related business field.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls is essential.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, or MBA are preferred.

Skills:
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is necessary.
  • Familiarity with data analytics is a plus.
  • A desire to learn and grow in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to interact effectively with management at all levels and external contacts.
  • Experience in distribution or inventory management is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills are required.

Additional Requirements:

A valid driver's license and the capacity to travel occasionally may be necessary.


Compensation:

Salary range starting at $63,420 – $99,660, commensurate with experience.

This range reflects similar roles in comparable sectors and considers the cost of labor in various regions. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
