Genetic Technologist I

We are seeking a highly skilled Genetic Technologist I to join our team at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a key member of our Institute for Genomic Medicine, you will play a critical role in performing routine and complex laboratory analyses, quality control, operational improvement, and preventative maintenance.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and complex technical laboratory procedures and follow proper equipment use, maintenance, and documentation.
- Draft patient reports by interpreting assay results and record laboratory processes and data, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Perform Quality Control testing of newly received reagents, chemicals, and kits used for patient testing.
- Complete all quality training and participate in quality assurance programs.
- Review the status of clinical and research cases with appropriate leaders.
- Identify and communicate problems, errors, and deviations in lab processes.
- Maintain a safe working environment, following applicable laws and regulations and assisting with ongoing safety audits.
- Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological science, required.
- Certifications: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certified or eligible for certification as a Technologist by an approved agency MLS(ASCP), MB(ASCP), or CG(ASCP), required.
- Certification exam must be passed within 3 years of hire date.
- Completes minimum of 12 hours Continuing Education annually.
- Genetics laboratory testing experience.
